On May 7th I was interviewed at Mindful Church by Karen Openshaw. I shared two of my songs, and meditation with the Jesus Prayer.
The song ”Bli stilla” – ”Be Still” is very much inspired by Mindful Church and that I have meditated on the Bible word in Ps 46:10 ”Be still and know that I am God”
Lyric for the song “Be still”
Be still and know that Jesus is God, Be still and know that Jesus is here
Breath out your worries, stress and troubles. Breath in the joy, love and peace of God
Be still, rest in the love of God. Be still now, Jesus is here.
Christian Mindfulness and The Jesus Prayer
When I was burned out, I also experienced a spiritual burnout where I felt that I had lost contact with God. After much searching for something that could help me, I found Christian mindfulness. And when I found Christian mindfulness, I also found the Jesus Prayer. I felt that I landed in a peaceful spirituality and a personal soul-care that is very helpful for me. Now, could a healing process in my heart towards wholeness begin. And I felt that I got contact with God again.
Teaching and meditation: The Jesus Prayer – The prayer of the heart
The Jesus-prayer is an invitation for you to meet Jesus and receive him in your heart.
From the recording: Readings from Mark 10:46-52 (The Message translation)
Meditation and prayer
Focusing on your breath, your heart, the heart of Jesus and the words:
(On your in-breath) Jesus Christ the son of God
(on your out-breath) have mercy on me
Contemplation and prayer
Focusing on your heart and the heart and love of Jesus
In-breath: Jesus
Out-breath: Sigh and surrender to the heart and love of Christ
Blessing when you come to the end of the meditation:
The blessing of peace over your heart.
if you want, you can take your right hand and place it over your heart.
May the peace of God, which passes all understanding,
preserve and protect my heart, my thoughts, and my breath.
May the peace of God, which passes all understanding,
preserve and protect my body, soul and spirit.
in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen
Phil 4:7
The Jesus Prayer song
I have been practicing the Jesus Prayer for several years. One day it was difficult for me to concentrate. Then it was as if Jesus whispered in my heart: ”sing” and so the melody for the Jesus prayer came into being.
Thanks to Karen for a great interview. Thanks to Mindful Church members for all the encouragement I received for my participation. God bless you.
